Position Title: Bilingual School-based Mental Health Therapist Contractor

Location: Germantown, Maryland

Hourly Rate: (35 hours weekly)

Schedule: Monday- Friday, 8AM-3:30PM

POSITION SUMMARY:

True Connection Counseling, LLC is hiring for a contractor opportunity in Montgomery County, MD to provide school-based individual therapy, crisis intervention, and group therapy to adolescents and their families.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provides short-term therapy and crisis intervention services to adolescents and their families in school setting. Treats a minimum of twenty to twenty-five clients per week. Assessment and treatment services include:
    • Clinical assessments and diagnosing
    • Treatment planning
    • Individual, family and group therapy
    • Crisis intervention and safety planning
    • Treatment monitoring, evaluation, termination, and referral
    • Consultation and collaboration with school personnel (teachers, guidance counselors, etc.)
  2. Creates and maintains client database notes and productivity reports, completes case reviews, and maintains complete and accurate case records. Oversees the thoroughness and accuracy of records.
  3. Collaborates and maintains a professional relationship with somatic wellness center staff, positive youth development staff and school staff.
  4. Attends weekly staff meetings and additional school-based meetings.  
  5. Consults with other relevant community providers as needed to improve quality services.
  6. Provides training to staff as needed.
  7. Attends professional development meetings, conferences, and in-service training to stay up-to-date with principles, processes, and methods. Maintains licensure.
  8. Participates with focus and professionalism in screenings, school-based meetings, etc.
  9. Abides by and assures compliance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards.
  10. Follows ethical principles of profession
  11. Makes engaging and informative presentations as needed to parent and youth groups.
  12. Brings best self to the workplace and shares ideas and suggestions.

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Supervises on-site Mental Health intern(s) as needed.
  2. Performs other duties as assigned, required, or needed.
  3. Formulates bi-weekly invoices for payment

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Professional Counseling, Marriage and Family Therapy or equivalent
  • Maryland Mental Health Professional License Required, LCPC, LCSW-C, LMFT, LMSW, LGPC, LGMFT
  • Two years of professional training and trauma informed clinical (cognitive-based psychotherapy) experience working with adolescents and their families.
  • Has worked with diverse populations, specifically at-risk (e.g., gang-impacted, youth with history of delinquency, homelessness, family separation, etc.) Latino and African American youth and families preferred.
  • Must be able to pass a criminal federal background check and a Child Protective Services background check.

 SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  •  Bilingual English/Spanish preferred*.
  • Works collaboratively in all situations with clients and staff.
  • Can build rapport with clients to ensure clients’ comfort and trust.
  • Prioritizes and organizes work to meet deadlines reliably with effective and efficient use of resources.
  • Maintains flexibility in high-pressure situations handling emergencies with composure and diffusing crisis situations.
  • Demonstrates sound judgment in all aspects of job responsibilities.
  • Practices with a strong code of ethics and integrity and fulfills obligations.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • May requires travel between sites and to meetings. Valid driver’s license is preferred.
  • Continuous sitting for prolonged periods
  • Keyboard use of greater or equal to 40% of the workday.
  • The ability to lift and move up to 10 lbs.
  • Private office with controlled air temperature and usually quiet.
  • May require periodic evening/weekend work.
